Close to the border with Gibraltar, the Mercado Provisional 20 de Abril is the perfect place to try typical tapas from the area and buy exclusive Andalusian products. You will experience the spirit of the city as you wander through each of the stalls selling fresh food, spices, cakes and flowers.
4. Centennial Drago in Princess Sofia Park
The Parque de la Princesa Sofía is a green lung in the heart of La Línea. Here you can admire the impressive “Drago Centenario”, a large thousand-year-old tree full of history. In addition, the park has play areas for children and historic bunkers that you can explore on a guided tour or simply look around and spy on their fascinating interior.
5. Cruz Herrera Museum
If you are interested in art, the Cruz Herrera Museum will surprise you with its collection dedicated to the famous local painter Cruz Herrera. It also hosts temporary exhibitions, such as a fascinating collection of butterflies that will not leave you indifferent.
6. Tea time and “Japanesas”
The British tradition of afternoon tea is mixed with a typical dessert from the area: “Japanesas”. This is a fried sweet filled with pumpkin strands or cream, covered in honey. A delight to regain energy while you continue exploring! You can find this sweet in the bars in the city centre that are full of locals and where they make you feel part of the town.
7. The decorated streets
In the centre of La Línea, the streets of Coronel Cadalso and Calle de Las Flores are filled with umbrellas and crochet, respectively. They are the perfect setting for an Instagram photo. Don't forget to stroll down the charming Calle Real as well.

10. Church of Carmen in Atunara
This church, situated almost on the sand of the beach, is a unique place with the Rock of Gibraltar as a backdrop. If you are lucky, you will see local women drying flying fish, a typical delicacy of the area.
